Bike Across America

A physically challenging and emotionally rewarding experience that redefined my appreciation of the beautiful American landscape. With an overall daily average of 85 miles, it was an incredible journey that included vast mountain ranges, expansive deserts and tough weather conditions.

From novice to expert

During 3,200 miles of biking, something was bound to go wrong and our group was no exception. With the support of our leaders, we were able to fix various cycling complications such as flat tires, gear and cassette problems as well as replacing new rim tape. In addition, we learned the core mechanics of how a bicycle operates.

Difficult Challenges, Breathtaking EXPERIENCEs

Throughout the trip, I experienced varied terrain and ecosystems. Some of the major landmarks included: the Ozarks, the Great Plains, the Rockies and the Mojave Desert.

When the six week journey was over, my father gave me the flag shown above. This was a symbol which represented another challenge I had overcome. It was also the same flag I carried on my 90 mile trek through rural New Mexico.
