iBook Author
For my Eagle Scout Project, I decided to combine my interests in technology and history by creating an interactive iBook based on the history of my town in Somers, NY. The iPad-based project took two years to complete and involved conducting research using primary and secondary source materials, securing appropriate copyright permissions and presenting the work to representatives of the Somers School District and the Somers Historical Society.
interactive map - overview of sites
I selected nine historically significant sites within my town of Somers, NY. These places included cemeteries, churches, meeting houses, a farm and a bridge. Many sites are listed on the National Register of Historical Places.

The At-A-Glance section was created to provide the reader with key statistics regarding the historical site, including:
- An interactive scroll menu listing important individuals, dates and site features
- A slideshow, with background music, that presents different views of the site and highlights interesting details
- A map of the site so citizens of the town can visit
